Who should apply

A wide range if groups - special interest, school, community, church, college or university - who are passionate about working to uplift and develop rural African school and community facilities, and willing to work hard physically.

Volunteer Tasks

Possible tasks on this program include:
- Building a jungle gym: laying out of the design, digging and laying foundations, planting poles, sawing wooden planks and attaching to framework, attaching swings and finishing work.
- Maintaining existing school/ community facilities: sanding down of existing walls, re-painting internal/ external walls, fixing leaks and/or problem areas, fixing fencing, building water drainage channels.

*Specific projects are designed taking into consideration current community needs as well as group requirements.

Student groups stay in shared accommodation in a serviced and catered house overlooking Chintsa beach.

Facilities:

- Dorm style accommodation (bedrooms typically sleep 2 – 6 volunteers)

- All bedding and linen included

Program Fees

14 days $ 1 591 / £ 1000 / € 1 400 / R 17 500

*Forex rates valid until 31st Dec 2016

Included:

- Shared accommodation in volunteer house
- Three meals per day whilst on project (prepared and served in volunteer house)
- Transport to and from project daily
- Support of our experienced on-site project co-ordinator
- Welcome Pack with all orientation and project information, free wifi at the office
- Shuttle from East London airport upon arrival and departure (Mondays only)

Terms and Conditions of application:

- Volunteers must be aged 18+ to take part in the project.
- Volunteers must have a competent level of spoken English
- Volunteers must provide a certificate to prove that a Police Check has been undertaken in their country of residence
- Volunteers must supply payment in full before placement can be confirmed
