Pre-Vet Program

Who should apply

A wide range if groups - special interest, school, community, church, college or university - who are passionate about improving the lives of abused and neglected animals in African townships and would relish the opportunity to work hands on with domestic animals and agricultural livestock.

Volunteer Tasks

- Work with township animals and rural communities: de-flea dogs, deal with mange, advise owners about animal health and nutrition
- Take part in and experience a game capture
- Take part in educational lectures around a range of animal management

Volunteers stay in shared accommodation in a serviced and catered house overlooking Chintsa beach (single accommodation available upon request and for an additional fee).


- Dorm style accommodation (bedrooms typically sleep 2 – 6 volunteers)
- Communal kitchen & living area
- Electricity
- Hot & cold running water
- Bath & shower room facilities
- All bedding and linen included
- Washing machine available for volunteer use
- Shared kitchen & living area

Due to the nature of the Pre-Vet Experience volunteers work between various reserves, farms and rural villages and are mobilized to where the work is. Program accommodation reacts to this need and interns can expect to stay in a variety of accommodation in the wider Chintsa area. This accommodation will always be comfortable and safe and could include work based tented camps, bush cottages, farm houses and occasionally lodges.

All group projects are tailor-made upon request, available all year round and priced according to group requirements.

Terms and Conditions of application:

- Volunteers must be aged 18+ to take part in the project.
- Volunteers must have a competent level of spoken English
- Volunteers must provide a certificate to prove that a Police Check has been undertaken in their country of residence
- Volunteers must supply payment in full before placement can be confirmed

Volunteers Work on Pioneering Sports Development Program in Chintsa, South Africa

This winter season VA32 is pioneering a Sports Development Program for local schools in the wider Chintsa area. Four groups of ISV volunteer groups will be hosted during the next three months and will facilitate this program along with VA32 project manager Denver.
